Who we are
We are Jeff and Amber McCulloch. We’ve been married for 20 years and have a 16-year old son, Boston. Bunny Hop Child Care began as a brainstorm in how we could help Boston since he struggled to focus in public school. In 2019, we began homeschooling him and launched our fledgling business with three little smiley faces hopping across the doorstep with the sunshine each morning. We haven’t looked back! Six years later, we’ve seen those children grow and welcomed more little ones in!
“I enjoy gardening, fall is my favorite time of year, and I grew up in the Willamette Valley. I love the natural enthusiasm and curiosity of children; whose smarts and humor never cease to amaze me. Nature and reading are my favorite things to share with the kids.”
“I’m Bunny Hop’s assistant and substitute provider. I’m a vehicle enthusiast from my childhood - from cars to trains, even planes! You should see my toy Hot Wheels collection sometime. Working with kids is second-nature since I’m a big kid myself! The kids love my silly sense of humor and goofy antics!”
A little bit about the name: The Bunny Hop is a group dance created in 1952. Participants dance in a line or a circle, holding the shoulders of the person in front of them. They tap the floor two times with their left foot, then with their right foot, then they hop forwards, backwards, and finally three hops forward to finish the sequence, which continues through the tune. That same year, Ray Anthony recorded a big band single release of the “Bunny Hop” featuring the “Hokey Pokey” on the B side.
Other than that fun fact, Bunny Hop Child Care was named for our late backyard bunnies, Clover and Fennel (shown above), as well as fond memories of Amber’s childhood bunny, Zipper. Zipper loved peanut butter sandwiches and games of tag.
